Our Breast Cancer Unit Appeal

We are fundraising for a dedicated Breast Cancer Unit and we need your help. Our breast care services are currently spread around the hospital, which means that patients need to move around the hospital and undress in multiple locations. We are running an appeal to change this. We are using the funds raised to develop a dedicated unit next to our Womens Hospital, which will allow patients to have a biopsy, a mammogram, an ultrasound and a consultation all in one place. There will also be space for difficult conversations, a dedicated waiting area away from the rest of the hospital and a meeting room for support groups and wellbeing activities.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have reached our £2.5 million target. However, the cost of construction materials has risen sharply and there is now a global shortage of many items, so we expect the new breast unit to cost significantly more. We will therefore continue to fundraise and raise as much as we possibly can. Construction of the new unit has begun and we expect it to be complete by September 2024.
